Foolproof Brewing Company

Foolproof Brewing Company is the newest Rhode Island craft brewery, and they are located not to far from us in Pawtucket, RI. Nick Garrison, President & Founder of Foolproof, was kind enough to invite us over during their canning of Raincloud, a robust porter. We got to try beer fresh from the canning line, take a tour of the brewery, and let Nick guide us and give insider’s information about each of Foolproof’s year-round beer offerings: Barstool, Backyahd, and Raincloud.

Barstool is an American Golden Ale, and the beer of choice for a night out with friends. Foolproof 6-packs come in these handy and distinctive boxes. Conveniently portable, in our opinion.

We’re loving Raincloud at Bottles! This porter is “dark, smooth, and mysterious,” and a tasty treat for those rainy (or snowy) days.

Pretty Things Beer and Ale Project

This past spring, Bottles (we’re an inquisitive liquor store in Providence, RI, full of local beer enthusiasts) was fortunate enough to pay a visit to Pretty Things Beer & Ale Project. Dann and Martha Paquette run Pretty Things, which is based in Somerville, Massachusetts, but brewed in Westport, MA. Pretty Things beers are known for being delicious, quirky interpretations and twists on classic beer styles. Watch the video to take a quick craft beer journey with Liam, the Bottles Beer Manager.

Bottles for the Cause: Red White & Blues 2

This past weekend, right here in Providence, Rhode Island, Bottles Fine Wine was honored to be a part of Red White & Blues 2, an event to benefit Trinity Repertory Company. Attendees enjoyed a tasting of wines from around the world, tasty food by local restaurants, and dancing to the The Silks, a popular local blues band. The casual evening at the Pell Chafee Performance Center was a great success, with proceeds benefiting one of the most respected regional theaters in the country. Red White & Blues 2 was co-chaired by Gil MacLean and his wife Michelle Collie, and sponsored by Bottles Fine Wine.

“The Silks were formed in the summer of 2010, and have burst onto the country blues scene in New England with ferocity and enthusiasm. Red White & Blues 2 also featured several local restaurants, including Nicks on Broadway, Local 121 and The Roi. Guests enjoyed beautiful pastries, mini-burgers, and much more throughout the night.

“Test your Palate, Taste to Win” was a fun game where contestants blind-tasted 6 wines, and had to correctly guess which wine was which. Those with the most correct entered a drawing to win 2 nights at a luxury hotel on Martha’s Vineyard.

Beaujolais Festival: An Evening at the Moulin Rouge

Just as the Providence community supports us, the folks here at Bottles support local organizations and their events. Last weekend, Bottles was honored to support the French American School of Rhode Island at the 19th Annual Beaujolais Festival: An Evening at the Moulin Rouge.

The French American School of Rhode Island is a “unique educational alternative for Pre-school through 8th grade” where students are immersed in dual-language, French and American programs. FARSI is a fully accredited school by both the American and French government.

The Beaujolais Festival: An Evening at the Moulin Rouge was a great success! Held at the beautiful Biltmore Hotel, guests tasted through countless French Wines, bid at the Live and Silent Auctions, and enjoyed a fantastic performance by live Cancan girls, Kristen Minskey and The Tropigals.

Moulin Rouge inspired decorations, including these centerpieces,

helped to set the atmosphere for the evening.

The Biltmore Hotel was an elegant setting for this Belle Époque themed Festival.

Beaujolais Nouveau is made from the Gamay grape in the Beaujolais region of France. It becomes available on the third Thursday of November each year, since it is only fermented for a few weeks.

One of the Live Auction Items was a Wine Tasting & Appetizers, where Bottles and Russell Morin Fine Catering will put together a wine tasting for 20 people.

Guests also enjoyed a beautiful bangle bar courtesy of Alex and Ani.

Charles de Fere Blanc de Blancs was a wonderful sparkling wine enjoyed by all.

Bottles for the Cause: Harvesting Hope

Recently, Bottles was honored to support the Southside Community Land Trust at the annual Harvesting Hope event and fundraiser. With tasty hors d’oeuvres, Rhode Island food trucks, wine from Bottles, and and inspiring words from Margaret DeVos (SCLT’s Executive Director), the evening was a great success, raising over $51,000!
